Simple and Delicious Pizza

Hey. I am back after a short hiatus and I hope I can get into the habit of posting something about once a week. Enough with housekeeping and announcements, let's get to the food! Let me start out by saying that pizza is fantastic. It is unbelievably simple and amazingly delicious. I have eaten pizza all around the world, and the one word I would use to describe it is "consistent". It is consistently delicious all around the world, whether you are in Rome, Interlaken or Prague. I have had amazing pizza, as well as mediocre pizza, but most of the time it is at least palatable. I have been making my own pizza at home for many years now, and it is on par with the best pizza I have had anywhere else. The best part about mine is that it is probably healthier! Here is the simple recipe:

1) Whole wheat pita (buy from store like Loblaws in a package of 5 or so).
2) Extra Virgin Olive Oil
3) Regular shredded mozzarella, or slices of braided mozzarella (amazing!)
4) Pizza sauce (many varieties available in cans)
5) Salt and fresh cracked pepper

Directions:

1) Preheat oven to 400 Degrees Celsius
2) Place pita onto baking tray (onto parchment or tin foil for less mess)
3) Spread sauce onto pita
4) Pour small amount of Olive Oil onto middle of pita and spread all over
5) If using slice of braided mozzarella, put several on, but leave spaces with nothing but sauce because it will spread out). If using regular mozzarella or other cheese, you know what to do.
6) Bake at 400 for about 8-10 minutes, then broil (at 500 degrees Celsius) for about 2 minutes (make sure you watch it so it does not burn). The idea behind the broiling is to give the pizza a nice crispy and delicious crust.
7)Try adding fresh minced garlic for those who want an added bold and delicious flavour!

Hope everyone enjoys this recipe if you try it. It really is quite delicious and very simple to try. Let me know how it turns out. Another post coming this week. Enjoy the remaining part of the weekend.
